After 1-1/2 years of retirement I've decided to go back to work. I will be moving to Shingle Springs and working near Bradshaw & Hwy. 50 weekdays for two years. I know there is good wade fishing in the lower American, wondering if it's worth bringing my Cat(s). Any Shuttle services? It looks like 1/2 lb'er season is just starting?

Welcome to the neighborhood! I would bring the pontoon and Joe Shirshac does a shuttle service. Andy at the shop will have Joes number.

You will want to purchase a annual park pass for launching, it will be good for 12 months from month of purchase. The Sac. Parks and Rec office is located on Bradshaw, that will probably be the the most convenient place to pick one up.

Is the pass needed to use the park (as in wade fishing) or just for launching?

You will need it for parking. It pays off to buy one do to a $5 entrance fee every time you want to go in the park. Here is the park pass info. and prices.

Thanks, Mark.
If I read it correctly, The Boat Trailer/Other Vehicle pass is what I'll need to park or use my truck, trailer and cataraft?

Hi Robert
I'm up here in Sac also and would like to "Truck Pool" with you on the American if that shuttle doesn't work out for you. I have the "Water Skeeter" 1 man pontoon that fits in the back of my truck and Fridays off from work.
I ain't much good at Steelhead fishing, in fact I've never caught one on a fly pole yet so I won't get in your way and probably hang back and watch how your fishing them

Joe,
I'm always willing to meet new fisherman and show them what little I know; you'd be welcome to float with me. For now, I'm trying to decide if I have enough light to get off work at 3:30 or 4:00, drift and take out or wait until spring when the days get longer. I'll only be in town Monday-Fridays (AM), so I guess I'll wait till I get up there and scope out the river, float times, launch points, etc vs. the wade fishery. Either way, you're welcome to meet up. PM me your contact info. I'm a bit concerned by rumors of vandalism to parked cars.
