Looking for a switch rod to throw indicators and or swing bigger artillary for trout. My goal is semi effotRtless casting. Will likely be roll casting. I am strugling with what weight to purchase. All these rods seem to have more ooomph. Is there a big differnce between a 4 vs 5 weight? Also, will wading vs in a boat impact my purchase?

Just my take so far from using a switch rod, and a spey rod as well. I have not found them to be all that fun for using with indicators personally; I'd prefer to use a sh rod for that purpose mostly. For swinging, they are great! The "effortless casting" may not be as quick or easy as you might hope, as there is a bit of a learning curve with them. Some lessons right up front would probably really help in that regard. Lastly, for me I would imagine that doing straight roll casts from a boat or wading would be pretty easy but for spey casting I think that you'd want to be strictly wading. From a boat, I think I would probably still opt for a sh rod personally; break out the switch rod when you stop and get out of the boat to work a run.

Take that all with a grain of salt, but that's my general take...
