I am selling my custom, hand crafted wooden fly boxes. I search out the most beautiful woods I can get my hands on, both domestic and exotic. I look for the most unique colors and interesting grains. I machine them by hand, hand sand them to 1000 grit and finish with multiple coats of marine grade SPAR urethane. I follow that up with a unique polishing process that brings the wood to a glass-like finish. Theyre outfitted with miniature brass box hinges and mighty magnets for hardware.

I am offering these flyboxes with your choice of rippled foam from Millstream, or my signature rippled cork inserts. If you do not specify, I will use the cork. The ripple cork compliments the natural wood very nicely and is what I recommend.

To purchase boxes, please use my email. jayspencer69@gmail.com

Please take a look at my writeup in the WITU on p.17 (Credit to Scott Grady for the article) http://www.wisconsintu.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=8v8iqPkHi34%3d&tabid=58&mid=381

This first photo is an example of the inside design of the boxes with the rippled cork insert.

Here they are, starting with the 4x6" boxes

A very nice mix of domestic woods in this box.

These two boxes are spalted maple. Spalting is actually a phase of rotting in a tree that creates interesting lines and colors along the grains. There is a very fine line in harvsting spalted wood before it is too rotted to use, but rotting enough to get the beautiful markings. These boxes are from a gorgeous piece of stable, spalted wood.

These four boxes are made from figured black walnut. This stuff is highly coveted and expensive. Just check out the bidding wars on ebay for the really nice stuff!

This is Bokote (yes, I misspelled it in the photo) Its from central America and is a VERY coveted wood to woodworkers. It has a beautiful dark, striated grain. I have two of these.

This is African Padauk. Its a new piece I just got and it is INCREDIBLE! The sapwood edge adds a wonderful contrast to this box.

This wood is called Monterillo. Its a South American Rosewood. It is extremely hard and is MURDER on blades and bits. Therefore, this is a limited edition box, as I doubt I'll get any more of this wood. Besides that its very expensive. However, it finishes beautifully and makes a gorgeous flybox.

African Mahogany. The "Goldenwood." This wood just glows gold in sunlight. Its very pretty!

Zebrawood. Of all the amazing woods I work with, this is my very favorite. It is really hard yet machines easiy. The striped grain has a deep 3D quality and the cream sapwood down the side just puts this stuff over the top!

Heres the 3x5"s

This one is Curly red oak. Highly figured grain that comes alive right before your eyes. I spend a lot of time digging thru piles of oak to find grain like this.

Another spalted maple from the same wood as the 4x6"s $70

Curly maple. Like the curly red oak, this wood has fantastic figure that moves right before your eyes!

African Padauk. You wont believe how this wood glows! **SOLD**

Usually, I keep the "seconds" for myself. I'm going to start offering them periodically at highly discounted prices.
This one is a 3x5" Purpleheart. Another South American hardwood. When you see Purpleheart, you just cant believe thats its real color. But its true! Its amazing stuff! This box suffered a "router check" on the inside edge. Its not pretty, but its on the inside and has no adverse effect on the box at all. This box is finished to glass, just like all the others.
This box is regularly $70. You can have it for half. $35 **SOLD**

The following are my signature Pocket Boxes. These are nice thin profile, handy little boxes. They are 3x5" by about 7/8" thick. Perfect for your shirt pocket or your smallest vest pocket. They are made with the same beautiful woods as my other boxes and are finished with the same process. The lid pivots around a stainless steel post screw (also available in black anodized aluminum) and locks into place with magnets. Very slick and simple design.
They are $50 ea.
