We have settled into Summer...
River warmish at dawn. 63-64 deg.Green/clear.
I am only guiding mornings now, in the canyon..
Too warm by PM to catch fish without risking shocking them, 69-75 deg.
Have been out at dawn everyday.
Pretty good fishing if you have a fast set.....
Down-stream.....
More than a few got away this week.
A very sparse hatch early PMDs, and a few Little yellow Sallies.
Glossasoma Caddis are the main treat for fish and birds.
Saw a Golden Stone flying today as well.
Crays are everywhere.
Hoppers, hoppers hoppers.
But after 10: 00 AM you can pretty much pack it in.
Wet wading is best.
Hope you are getting out.

Thanks for the weekend, Bigfly!! What an education!! I've always been a little intimidated by the Truckee before I went out this weekend with Jim. I highly recommend Bigfly if you want to learn how to fish the Truckee!!!

Glad you enjoyed the T and me. (Or is it the T and I?)
A tough river, during the toughest time of year, on the low/hot water year to boot.
And we still got a little love.....
Keep in touch.
Thanks again;

Jim

Beautiful nights/days...
Weekends are a bit crazy, but weekdays are for fishing.
Water is green/clear 350+ near town.
Fish are feistiest early... and are a bit more active in evenings.
A few skinny PMDs...
Caddis of a few kinds, mostly Glossasoma.
A few... large Golden stones.
Some cray.
And midges,midges, midges...........
Try a Griffiths gnat.
Nights are in low 40s....upper30s.
Good for the fish....
Fish shade and bubbles.
Look for it to be breezy in the PM.
Think hoppers then......

Really fishy with the Monsoonal effect.
Cooler is good.
Smoke isn't tooo bad.
Flows are beautiful.
A good drift is paramount.
