I'm heading up to Coeur d' Alene in a few weeks, and should have a free day to fish. Anyone here have experience fishing this river and know where to go?

Try the St. Joe up above Avery.
If you're driving take a detour to the Lochsa and Selway rivers. Everywhere that there should be a fish there is.

You want to fish the north fork. Upstream from Prichard, ID. There's a road following it for miles and miles. Lots of access.
Silverbow fly shop in Spokane is a good place to check in.
Enjoy.

There's n Orvis store in Cor d' Alene right off the main drag. They give away their own detailed printed maps of all the streams for free, along with advice on which are fishing the best and what flies to use. You'd be ahead of the curve if you stopped in their. Had a blast last time we were there and the maps access points to / from dirt roads was spot on.
