I've been saying that the stripers have been scattered and today was no exception. Randy Lee and I got on the water right at 5:30 and within the first five minutes Randy's pole bent over to a nice schoolie of 5-6lbs.

What a great way to start the morning. Now we just need to find a few more.

The last few days the water seems to have risen several feet. When this happens fish will move to new areas trying to find a more comfortable location in which to feed or rest. For the past few weeks the fish have been scattered enough but now with the water change they've moved all over the place and we're forced to cover a lot of territory in order to find our second fish. Fortunately Randy connects again and takes his personal best striper on a fly at 12.5lbs. :)

Okay, it's not quite 7:00 AM and we've got two nice fish to the boat, so things aren't Toooo bad, and we keep on moving, drifting with the currant and hitting every likely spot on the river. One here, one there, but definitely not a red hot bite. But, I keep having to remind myself that this IS summer, and the fish ARE scattered, and we've already found a few that cooperated, so why be greedy?

It was a slow day and a good day at the same time, and I got to fish with an old friend again. Just being out on the water is always a good day.

Now, I've got to get out there some more and find where those fish have move too :)

I guess there are some summer Stripers in most of the valley rivers somewhere below the first dam from the ocean?

Hi Tony,I like that there are fewer boats around. I am waiting for the shad to disappear so those big stripes are not so easily satiated.
