Of all other sport fishing in the central valley, shad fishing seems to be the most user friendly. Fly fishers side by side, sinkinking or floating, spey or single handed,spin fishing or fly fishing. Even when a drift boat floats through your run, your not worried, THEIR SHAD! There are twenty of the silver scaled angels swimming in the eddy created by me wadding. If my waving arms and fly rod doesn't spook em, why worry about a drift boat. They can be caught by young and old. Men and woemen, boys and girls. So forgiving. I'm sure there are a bazillion fishing bonding experiences logged in because of these wonderful game fish. Heck, How many triple or quadruple hook-ups have you heard about with other species? Shad its not uncommon. A multiple hook-up with a favorite fishing partner is a bond for life. The shad are here everybody. Go get some flies at Kienes and have some fun.
