Snuck out for a few hours last night on the incoming tide was able to find some warmer 64 degree water and some willing fish to eat on top. As usual they were they were tucked in the pockets between the rocks and weed flat. Had a total of 12 TW eats with 5 landed, not bad for march. Hooked a toad subsurface but only got three head shakes before it was gone, biggest TW fish was just over 2 1/2lbs. Ron Dong was the winning fly (and is usually my early season go to before the frogs come out to play). looking forward to what this year has in store after we are off to a hot start.

Effin righteous right there. Great report and cool pics. I'm going to toss some topwater stuff next time out if the striper bite sucks.

That 3rd pic looks like the bass ate a rattle trap :D

Thanks Mar,

If you can find the warm water they should be looking up. Am heading out again tmrw for a combo LMB Striper trip, will see how I fair against my nemesis linesides. There are some major tides right now so we should have some fish on the prowl.

Temps up to 64 and weed flats less than 4 feet with pocket between the rocks again turned out to be key. Scratched chasing the linesides today to get some TW action.

That is great....

What does the perfect top water temp look like?

Bill we found water from 64-65 and that seemed to be the happy place. I was very surprised to get that much TW action this early but they were hungry and I did miss one good fish and he subtly sipped the fly down and I forgot my strip set. Since it was just a small swirl well that turned out to be big fish and I missed him.
