I had a chance to spend a couple of days fishing with friends. We decided to do a quick float on the Sac then drive up to Oregon and fish the Rogue for a couple of days. Heres the report,
Rogue- We fished the upper part of the river (above Shady Cove). In a nut shell the fishing was slow. The water is low and clear and cold. The fish dont seem to have arrived in any numbers. In three days there were 9 fish hooked and 5 landed (sorry no pics, theres never a camera around when you need one). They were all big pretty fish. The hot bugs seemed to be blue copper johns, eggs, prince nymphs. With a couple of significant rains things should improve. By the way if you go give the Maple Leaf Motel a try. Very nice rooms with very comfortable beds, fridge and micro waves for $50. Also Saturday and Sunday there is a BBQ at the Shady Cove Market that is really good and great prices!
Lower Sac- Thursday 3/14 my friends and I had a couple of hours so we decided to float from Posse Grounds to Bonneyview. We put in around 4:30 and took out around 6:30. Fishing was great from the start. It seems like the fish are starting to spread out a little more so you don't have those lulls in between fish. We finished the day with 12 fish all between 18" and 24". Here are a couple of pics. I still have an open day on the Sac Saturday 3/30 if you are interested give me a call 650 400-3738.
