Any current reports? Haven't been in a long time, I was going to give it a try Tuesday but heard the fishing has been tough. May consider other options.
Thanks,
Dan

I was just about to post about my last trip with Blane (giantsfan) and Ryan (rylcrawford) on the lower Yuba. The weather was nice during most of the day and quickly disintegrated towards the end of the float. We never saw really anything in the way of bug hatches nor any glimpses of skwallas. Deep nymphing was the best way for us to catch fish.

My 3 fish cam from a simple Pat's Rubberleg Stone, in a smaller olive size.

Ryan caught a few fish as well:

We enjoyed our day on the water. Even Blane fished a few times, he is always so generous. Here's Blane tempting a Yuba trout:

I took my small spey rod out and even swung for some fish with no success. I even pounded the banks with a skwalla dry for a little bit without any action. Towards the end of the day Ryan hooked a good fish:

The fishing for us was slow, and the dry fly action was more like casting practice. The bug activity has been sporadic by the sounds of the reports coming into the shop. Those Yuba "Masters" like Hogan Brown find creative and specialized way to utilize their many hours on the Yuba to coax fish onto the lines, yet without all those long hours on the water tempting the Yuba fish right now can be a challenge. If you find active bugs and feeding fish then you have a better chance but with the shifting weather I would say that there is no sure bet right now.

Good luck out there. Hopefully you find yourself on the water during a good day.

Fished Hwy 20 to Sycamore last Sunday. Busy day on the water, probably 10+ boats doing the drift. Between two rods (one fishing) we had 10 fish to the boat, including one steelhead at 20". Flows are good and clarity is typical gin clear. Nothing was taken on the surface despite some effort. Skwalas are around and flying on warmer days, but not in any significant numbers. Some random mayflies too, but no noteworthy hatches last week.
