To: Donors to the Kevin Doran Special Needs Trust Fund
As you may remember, this Trust fund was established on 03/06/2012 to provide assistance to Kevin by paying for his substantial health-care related costs, such as medical insurance premiums and out-of-pocket costs for medical issues, from March 2012 through approximately May of 2013. Thanks to the response from the community, Kevin is at the half way point in the journey. With the successful replacement of his left hip, he is now ready for the final turn.
Contrary to what we thought at the time we started this endeavor, Kevin did not get Medicare last November and does not get it until this coming April. Consequently, we got Kevin insured though California’s “Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan” which was/is more expensive than if he had Medicare. Therefore, the Trustees are again appealing to the community to help out with whatever you can so we can finish the task we started almost a year ago. Surgery is scheduled for April 15th to replace Kevin’s right hip.
We are all looking forward to Kevin once again putting his talent and expertise back to work in the coming months. With the community’s help, we can get this done.
As a side note, should this appeal not reach the goal needed, the Trustees have a preliminary back up plan in mind. We are considering a fund raising Dinner with live music and auctioning off donated goods, guided fishing trips, along with things for the non-fishers as well. The date being considered is Saturday April 6th 2013. Anyone responding with a donation on this appeal will be invited as a guest, should we decide it is necessary to proceed with the plan above. Again, It is anticipated that donations to the trust will not be tax deductible.
