Last Tuesday I got out a little bit after sun-up and found a few pictures to take..
Here's a happy Pintail finishin' his mornin bath...

A pair feedin'

A lonely Canvasback...

A pair of Cinnamon Teal

Once in a while you get lucky and they slip you a flash of their blue wing panels

An even better shot (I think)

A Pair of Green-winged Teal feeding

Next comes a little feather maintenance...

The male showin' a little of his hidden colors too..

These two are both hidin' their heads but showin' off colors

This guy is tryin' to look like a Merganser!

A back-lit Red Tail..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/stripermike/January%20Ducks/RedTail.jpg

Last but not least, a nice lookin' Sandhill Crane

January in the Delta ain't like January in Wisconsin..Notice the absence of white stuff around :)

Thanks folks...Those were all shot with 70-200mm F2.8 IS II lens at 200mm..What makes them all work was I had the sun directly behind me and at a low angle... All except the Red Tail which was back lit.

Mike those shots are fantastic...just got a mac book pro with retina display and those pictures of yours jump right off the screen. That 70 200 2.8 lens is a diamond.

Awesome pics. It's too bad I can't get anything this clear, let alone have anything get that close to me, with my 55-200mm

The quality of the those waterfowl photos are amazing, I really enjoyed them. Gets me amped up for another duck season though.
