Today, I was sad to get the news of the passing of Ed Littrell. Ed taught
me how to fish for Striped Bass in the California Delta with his good friend
Mark Pinto. We spent many days chasing shad, birds, and yes even stripers.
I have spent many enjoyable hours with Ed and Mark catching and not
catching Stripers and Largemouth Bass.

He will be greatly missed. Ed was a long time member of California Fly
Fishers Unlimited. Ed was a husband, father, grandfather, friend and story
teller extraordinaire. Ed retired after working as a Biologist for
California Dept of Fish and Game, (Wildlife). He worked thruout the state on various
projects, some of his more recent projects included erosion control,
mitigation & restoration of many islands in the California Delta.

I hope that both Bill Canazzo & Ed Littrell are up there enjoying some
fabulous fishing and maybe keeping an eye on us down here yelling STRIKE,
STRIKE if we miss a strike or two on our favorite waters....

Very sad news. I recently had the priviledge of meeting and fishing with Ed and a mutual friend. Even though I just recently met Ed, I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity that so many of us never experience. You will be missed.

Here is a nice obituary about Ed.......looks like cancer got him.

He had a good life as many of us have who enjoyed the outdoors.

Ed was a great guy. His efforts as an environmental steward and at DFG will not be forgotten. We talked of doing some fishing, but he became ill and we never had the chance. He fought the battle, got better for awhile, then took a sudden and serious turn for the worse before the holidays.

Rest in peace, Ed.
