I guess I need new wading boots to comply with Alaska "no felt bottom boots". What success stories do you guys have to offer?

All of the wading I have done in AK was pretty easy. I used standard felts at the time because studs are bad for the rafts. Wading was pretty tame compared what we have here. Most rivers start at a lake and have small gravel and work their way up to cobbles. Mud at the lower river is a bigger problem. I got stuck once and was exhausted when I got out with help digging me out with oars. I would get something comfortable that you may have a use for when you get back. Simms river tread on the freestone boots would be fine in AK but I'm not satisfied with the cleats.. I hear the aluminum ones are better. You will be on your feet a long time as the days are long so keep that in mind.

Good luck,
