Fantastic photos!! Nicely done.

We have had a couple unusual birds in our backyard the last week or two. Not necessarily rare just unusual for our yard. A Common Yellowthroat; a Townsend's Warbler; and this morning a thrush, most likely a Hermit Thrush. And we've been hearing the great horned owls calling the last few nights as well. I really need to bring my camera downstairs so I have it ready when I see these birds. They don't stick around long.

Thanks guys.

Jeff, The Townsends is one of my favorites. I was lucky enough to photograph a few when I lived in Oregon. Here in Wisconsin, the nearest comparison is the Blackburnian and Magnolia Warblers. We do have an amazingly diverse migration here in the late spring. The common yellowthroat is everywhere in the summer here and the hermit thrush passed thru this fall.

The Warblers are my favorite to shoot as they are a challange and they are beautiful.

Jbird,

Great shots as usual. Love the Cardinal as obviously we don't have those down here. What lens are you shooting most of your bird photos with. My 70-300 lens is very old and I need to replace without breaking the bank.
Keep em coming.

Jay,
About time! LOL. That so many species spend the winter in the north is amazing. Even given their
survival tactics, sometimes conditions can over whelm them. Some years ago, we were at the Smith
in the middle of an extreme cold spell. The pools left on the banks as the high water had receded were
frozen solid. Saw lots of dead birds of all types.
I know lots of folks in Michigan only put their feeders out in the winter.
Thanks for the bird fix. Stay warm.
Best,
Larry S
