I hit a reservoir yesterday that doesn't get much press but holds a non-stocked population of hybrid wild trout/landlocked wild steelhead. If you know the name, please don't post it. The fishing was great. My second fish broke the top 14" or so off my rod & I had to spend the rest of the day casting the broomstick I was left with. These fish were feisty & put up a great fight including several that jumped 3' or more out of the water & several that tail-walked on top the water. I ended up catching 11 for the 4 hours fished & my buddy caught 5. The hot flies for the day were Jon B's version of the Jay Fair rust wiggle tail & his sheep creek special. One was a nice 18" that took my fly on the drop. I didn't feel the take at all. Great day on the water.

Nice! Is that a pack-in lake? Looks like you're fishing out of a Trinity - nice tube.

Good times,

SHig,
yes on both. It is a hike in lake. Based on some of your posts, you've probably been there.
And that is a Trinity float tube. I bought it for backpacking into high mountain lakes. I've had it for about 6 years & love it.
I don't usually post much, but after fishing with Jon B on Davis a few weeks ago, he kind of encouraged it so I figured I'd give it a try

If I've been there I can't say that I recognize it. Sounds like a real gem regardless.

Thanks for sharing!

Right on Dave! Stoked you got into some nice fish. I'll be up at Davis in
the am with clients-same spots, same flies, same everything! The lake is still fishing well and with the minimal snow pack and lack of ice it may go for some time.

Thanks for the report!

Beautiful fish Dave!! We need just a bit more landscape in your pictures...kidding of course...can't think of a better way to spend Thanksgiving Day. Hopefully that rod of yours is still under warranty.

Pete, Yeah, the rod is under warranty. I just got it the other day to replace one I left by my campsite on a trip last month. It was still a bummer to have it break in the first 20 minutes
