View Full Version : Automatic Inflatable Life Vest Recommendation?

I have a manual vest now where you have to pull the handle to inflate, and would like to get an automatic that inflates when you hit the water. Mine is from West Marine and it's a little bulky. Unlike many, I wear mine in the pontoon, float tube, on the boat, and often when wading bigger water. It only takes watching a friend come within seconds of drowning from turtling a float tube to get in that habit.

Looking for a recommendation for an automatic that is less bulky and more comfortable. Thanks!

John,
I was in the same boat as you awhile back. Had the manual vest from west marine. Didn't feel too bulky but it was uncomfortable around the neck. I upgraded to an auto inflate (MD3184 model). It's only supposed to auto-inflate when submerged in 4" of water. I've been happy with it so far. A lot more comfortable around the neck and I've worn it in some pretty wet conditions with no problems.
