I had the privilege of being able to spend this last weekend in the Sierras, fishing one of my favorite east slope streams, marvel at the fall color, catch a sweet BWO spinner fall and catch some nice trout to boot.

Fishing in short sleeves in October is a treat.

Great Scenery

Catching sipping cutts and rainbows with size 16-18 rusty spinners was the icing on the cake.

Too bad this kind of weekend couldn't be more like a week!

Cheers!

The fall colors were some to gawk at this year. Mix that in with some good fly action and you have a beautiful day. I too have had a few of those recently. THanks for sharing!

Hey Dave,

Is that average size for the cutties? Using a 3wt?

Of all my rods I think I like my 3wt the best...prolly cuz most of the fish I
catch are small. ;)

Pretty fall colors. Nice pics man...love it.

Hey Eric-

Yeah, all of the cutts were in the 11-13" range and the rainbows were bigger, the largest probably about 17".

I was using my 4wt pack rod, which I like, but I like my 6wt better, probably because it casts the best. The lightest rod I have is a 3wt, but I think the Tenkara rod is even lighter, at least at the tip. I like all of 'em, depending on the circumstances.

Cheers!

Nice...well then a 3 wt wouldn't "cutt it" (yuk) on the bigger fish then.

Cool report Dave!
