trinity overnight float

Been trying to find a nice float on the Trin where we can camp out overnight while fishing. I know its not necessary, but we like to do it. I was wondering if anyone had knowledge of the float between douglas city and junction city. Looks like the one place where the road does not completely follow the river and I read somewhere that there is public land on at least one side of the river where we could possibly camp.?

we will be up there for 3 days fishing the weekend of october 20th.

Alternately, we might fish the Klamath if it seems the odds would be better.

If there are any other floats people know about and wouldn[t mind sharing, I would be appreciative.

You might want to inquire about a dangerous snag (root?) near Douglas City. There was a warning about this last season.

that douglas city to junction city float is nice.

the only issue is that it is pretty long so you end up doing a lot of floating and not as much fishing on the nice runs as I would like to.

But I end up doing it every year since it is so fun!

there is a nice camp on the river right on the blm land....

Spent two days there and caught hooked/lost one adult, and hooked 1,439
smolt, but lost 861. Amazing how far I can sling those little guys on my back cast with an 8wt and 60ft of line.

Floated from JC to PP. Water is clear and cold, seems low too. Saw lots of salmon and a few adult steelhead. Lots of salmon bankers in the morning, but very few steelhead bankers, and only a few boats.

Couple weeks away up high. Might be a good time for Willow Creek area...

what floats in willow creek area? haven't fished that part. My river map book says difficult to float...

Camping on the lower Klamath River with a jet boat is fairly common.

I would think that the bulk of the run is on the way now. Two weeks from now should be prime.

Don't know about any Willow Creek area floats as I usually wade that area because I am not keen about leaving a vehicle unattended around there. It has been a few years since I've fished there, as I haven't always felt welcome, I suppose things may have changed...

Have heard internet chatter that special tribal permits are necessary to fish that area. Maybe a boat permit too?
