It appears the line has a new profile; the back end of the body is larger (http://www.rioproducts.com/fly-lines/freshwater/specialty/steelhead-atlantic-salmon/ click on "line profile"). In the attached profile at 30' back from the tip there is 24' of increased diameter. Appears this would help roll casting and mending.

Has anyone used this new line? I really like my older one that I replaced with an Orvis taper (which doesn't get it for me).

I'd like a review as well, and a comparison to perhaps the rio indicator line?

Here is some accurate information from our Rio Rep Jamie Lyle:

Bill,

I confirmed with Simon Gawesworth that the Steelhead Salmon line has not changed within the past five years, with the exception of the DualTone color change.

What did change last year with the DualTone update, was the line profile chart which was previously incorrect. This is what is being noticed.

The S/S line remains the best line for casting big flies and indicator systems and executing long distance mends and stack mends. Imitated, but not duplicated!

Thanks,
Jamie
