I've been wanting to fish here for quite some time now and finally made it there today. It is late in the season and flows are down, but it's always a good day to go fishing. The weather was great and I had the river to myself, probably more to this river's remoteness than anything. The Clavey is one of California's longest non-dammed rivers and has a wild trout designation. These are all native wild trout and there were plenty of them to fish for, but they were spooky to say the least. The light touchdown of my Parachute Adams would them them scurrying. I did manage two takes but I was either too slow or too eager with the hook set. Even still, fishing here was a blast and helped me with presentation.

Nice pics. I've fished the Clavey upstream from where it enters the Tuolumne and have always wanted to fish it higher upstream.

Maybe in July with a little more flow it would be a little easier to catch soemthing?

Have heard of the river and read about it some but have never seen it.....

Thanks......

I used to fish it maybe 10-15 years ago and it was pretty fun. Very runoff dependent though, early season its great but it turns to a downright trickle late in the season. Glad you had fun. Im guessing you have plans for a new place to fish next season!
