As I was getting ready to hit the delta in my pontoon I got an email from Stu Booth. I have never meet Stu before but had seen his name. Stu decided it was time to hit the delta this season and asked if I wanted to join him. How could I say no? I get to be safe and secure in a boat instead of my pontoon. We meet at Sugar Barge and hit the water strong. We started off fishing the out going tide and ran into to fish pretty quickly. As previous reports had stated there are plenty of small fish with a few 3 pounders mixed in. A good sign of a strong return of new fish. I hope when the big ones get in they are in the same numbers. We fished away catching fish all over the place and then decided to take a siesta at the bottom of the tide and have some lunch. We eat, laughed and had a great time. Even had a family of a mother, father, and 3 little raccoon's walk on by foraging for food, I love the delta's wildlife. Saws hawks flying all day long and even spotted one sitting a tree with lunch, another smaller bird. Once the tide starting coming back in we went at it again finding fish in plenty of locations. We caught a lot of stripers, a couple lmb's, and I even got a descent squawfish. All in all had a great day and hope to fish with Stu again.
