Hi,

heading up to Cloverdale this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any tips or locations. King's thought there might be some small steelhead there now.

Understand there might be some plants north of Cloverdale - East Branch other side of L Mendocino?

Thanks.

Stream above Lake Mendocino receives regular plants. Be careful of wading near coffer dams, very dangerous. Below Lake Mendocino, from just above Cloverdale and down there is pretty fair smallmouth fishing, with some huge Squawfish sometimes giving you a big surprise when fishing streamers.

Thanks. I may try both. Seems to be access at Potter Valley Road above the lake.

Is there a preferred parking/access area in Cloverdale?

Where/what are the coffer dams?

I don't think you can fish below the Hwy 1 bridge down near the ocean.

Smallmouth Bass in the Alexander Valley early and late in the day?

Surf Perch anyone?

I just had time for the East Branch above L Mendocino. Spent about two hours and caught 6 10-13" rainbows on nymphs.

The wading wasn't so bad, but I didn't venture too far. This did not seem to be a place you'd want to be too far from your vehicle.
