Gotta love California. I'm always in awe every time I think about all the fishing opportunities within a few hours drive on the same day.

Woke up early Saturday morning and paid my respects to Mother D. I was greeted by fall-like cool air and fog.

I was rewarded with a bunch of schoolie stripes up to 21". The fog lifted and I switched over to top-water bassin. Nothing big, but enough aggressive eats on top by smaller fish to keep me entertained.

Bagged it my 11am and headed home to pack up for our yearly Burney Labor Day road-trip. Made it there early afternoon and spent a few minutes fishing. Lots of fiesty planters at the Baum lake inlet:

Spent the night at Burney and did some Burney Falls fishing early Sunday morning:

Had a blast hanging out with the family with a some quick fishing sessions squeezed in.

Planned on fishing early Labor Day morning but too tired to get out of bed. Did some honey-do's for a few hours and headed out late afternoon with the wife for some north delta smallmouth. Got some tips from Andy on general areas to try.

A few yards into the first trip, a fiesty smallmouth violently attacked the frog.
My first ever delta smallmouth:

I guess all the time she spends watching me make hundreds of casts finally got to her. She wanted to give it a shot:

No fish on her first fly rod adventure but it's a good start.

Looking forward to the next one.
