It is that time again when adolescent Steelhead, that we refer to as Half-pounders, enter the Lower American River. The runs are not what they use to be, but none the less, they continue to swim the currents of the American River were they actively feed unlike the larger adult steelhead that arrive November through March.

I am offering half day or full days trips ware we float down stream in my boat and learn how and were to to swing for these fiesty little Steelhead. Single hand and Spey techniques, fly and line selection will be emphasized.

I have Tuesdays and Thursdays available ( sometimes I can arrange a Monday or Wednesday ) for the next two months. Perhaps you do not need much assistance in which case I can act as a knowledgeable Taxi for you to explore this great river running through the middle of Sacramento.

I charge $170 for one angler for 4 hours, $240 for two. All day trips for $350 can be arranged.

I can be reached at: 916/849-1529, or by email.

Thanks for looking and tight lines.

Andy is an expert on the Lower American River and can teach you the "how, when and where" to catch these little chrome bullets from the salt.

On Thursday below Watt Avenue Andy was drifting in his boat with a client fly fishing for Stripers with an 8 weight rod, fast sinking shooting head and a 4 inch Clouser Minnow.....

......they hooked a nice 20 inch Steelhead?

I think it is Half-pounder time!!!!

Don't want to sound like Andy's promotion department, but he's the most instructive guide I've ever engaged anywhere. Really, most guides don't tell you as much as you'd think. They see their task as to get fish on your line, but how, where, and when often go unspoken. Andy tells--and shows--and explains-- everything. He does it an a very soft-spoken, modest manner too.
