Dan Blanton posted this on his forum....one of his top 10 favorite fish.

We caught them about 5 pounds walking the edge of the flats at Christmas Island years ago.....they do jump but those in Australia are very big.

The queen fish is definitely a fun fish to catch up the river or on the Great Barrier reef.
I made 5 trips there and would like to go back. What a "hoot" to catch queenies in the river on a falling tide. You fish the edges of the dropoffs where the current would be the strongest. The queen fish is kinda like the dorado in baja. Almost the same shape, a fast jumping fish
Here's a pnoto of a decent size queen fish caught in the Jackson River area

Here's a couple other photo's of fish from AU

This is Al "the guide" Opps, I couldn't get the other photo's to post.
One year, I had the pleasure to fish with Jono Shales (a fishing machine), Steve Starling and Mike Felty
I would love to go back and fish the Exmouth area or even the Gulf of Capentaria

Bill,

If I can get it to post, I have some video of me fighting a GT on 12 mile reef. It took me over an hour to land the fish on a 10wt rod. The fish was 31 lbs. I'll try and edit the video and cut out some of the XXX rated language

I caught one on a shallow flat at Christmas Island last January. Thought I was casting to a bonefish until it jumped after taking the fly. That really surprised me! It put up a fight about the same as a bonefish of that size.

I saw a preview of this at the fly tackle dealer show. Was amazing footage. Super slow mo close up with fish just slashing at poppers trying to kill with such visceral aggression. It won the best movie award although the GT film called "gangsters of the flats" was a very close second in my mind.
