Doug is going to put on a class on tackle and techneques for Half-pounder Steelhead.

September 8, 2012, Saturday

Meet at Kiene's Fly Shop for equipment lecture and fly selection -10:00am to 12 Noon.

At 1:00pm meet at the river, probably around the Watt Avenue access, and learn from a pro how to read the water and make the right cast to present the fly to the fish.

This will be for single hand, Switch and Spey fishing.

Bring waders, boots, hat, Polarized glasses, sunscreen, fishing license/SH punch card, leaders flies and any fly fishing outfit with floating line.

Limited to 6 people = $50.00 per student

Pre-pay at shop soon to reserve your spot.

Cash or personal check payable to Doug Duncan

We won't be using any flies during the classes.

After the class you will have some time to use your new skills in the late afternoon on your own.

Who knows...someone might catch something?

All 6 spots are full, but we'll go ahead and take 8 as myself will be on hand to help instruct. If you want to learn to fish for fall steel head this a is a good crash course/ refresher on the fundamentals. Also for those new to 2 handed rods this is a great chance to get exposed to them or get a casting tune up.

Call the shop...there might be some room.

We added more spots and added another instructor, Arron Stiny.

We will probably have more classes.

I went out above Sunrise tonight to see if I could figure anything out on my own. I had two grabs on a tung head birds nest that I swung but as soon as they hit, they were gone :smirk:

I would love to do the Halfpounder clinic but I simply can't that Saturday. How about Sunday? Please

Andy Guibord can probably take you down to the river for a couple of hours after work several different nights of the week and on weekends.

Call into the shop and ask to be put on the list for the next Half-pounder Steelhead class.

Doug has 10 students in the class today so Aaron Stiny is going to help him with it.

**As many of us did over the years, you can hone your skills here on the Lower American River for Steelhead then take them to the better rivers like the Trinity, Klamath, Rogue, Deshutes and others.....

Go get 'em......
