Sage 6010 has been at near the top of my wish list.

To look at new 8000 series, I was not so impressed as those looked just too large/heavy for my taste.

For example, 8010 is larger and heavier than 6012.
8010 is even larger than Tibor's Gulfsteream but lighter though.

8000 series has "two-stage" drag system that 6000 doesn't have.
Does this imply that drag of 6000 doesn't have enough granularity for fine adjusting drag resistence especially at lower range?

I would like to use 6000 for bonefish and Permit where I don't need to have a powerful stopping power as my tippet is 12lb - 16lb mostly with 20lb at maximum.
If 6000 can't adjust drag well between say 2lb-6lb range, it may be a deal breaker for me.

I would like to hear opinions about 6010 drag from currrent 6010 owners.

Many thanks in advance.

The Sage 6000 series is one of the few that we've never had back with warranty issues. The new 8000 is super impressive with the most stopping power and adjustment available. A nice option for someone who does a lot of big game fishing and wants to be able to really fine tune their drag settings. If I fished for a Tarpon a Month a year I'd have one for sure. Can't go wrong with either, most people don't realize that the drag system Sage uses was designed for them by Jack Charlton.

If I ever had FU money I would have a whole line up of Charlton reels. Just because.
