October is my favorite month for fly fishing for Steelhead.

You can swing flies on a floating line, especially early and late in the day or with overcast all day and in the shade anytime.

There are lots of multi-day float trips on great Steelhead rivers like the Deschutes, Grande Ronde, and John Day.

We like Morrison's Lodge on the Rogue River for a great place to stay with good drift boat guides and excellent food too. A 4 night, 3 day trip is around $1500 per angler, double occupancy...

You can go on a jet boat trip on the Lower Klamath with the Eureka Fly Shop..

You can do float trips on the middle Klamath and lower Trinity with Jason Hartwick who specializes in two-handed fly fishing.

If you want to learn how to fly fish for Steelhead swinging flies on a single hand or two handed (Switch & Spey) fly rod you can do it right here on the Lower American River....

Andy Guibord and Doug Duncan can take you out on the river right now and show you how to rig up, cast, fish and read the water so you will know how to fish when you get up on a world class river this fall....the both work at Kiene's Fly Shop.

If you want to try out some Switch rods or Spey rods this can be arranged too....

Bill,

After talking to Andy, I may want to go with a lighter switch rod for the half pounders. I bought a ACR 13'6" 7 wt from you a few years back and just never got around to using it. What rods do you have available to demo if I went out with Andy?

Thanks.

Bill
