Finally strung some video together from Bill's and myself's trip at the beginning of the month. We had an epic afternoon with baby's all over on shallow flats. I'll post pics soon. https://vimeo.com/47294359

Looks like fun! What rods were you using? I suppose if you were targeting small tarpon specifically it would be a blast to drop down a few (or more!) rod weights from the traditional tarpon gear.

Stout 8's and 9's for the baby's, although with a 20lb fish on the flats at times it's about all a 9 can handle.

scheduled to go back for my 3rd trip next July - very cool video!!!

Were the migratory fish around? Though I kinda prefer targeting the "babies"!

Good stuff!!! I like the idea of fishing them on the flats rather in the mangroves. Lots more room for them to show off their goods....

We chased migratory a couple mornings Rick. I hooked into a few and Paul Wilms had a morning where he hooked into 3. I do agree about preferring the babies. I'll be back a week or so after you are next July, leave a few for me :D I have a spot open if anyone's interested.

Excellent job of putting that all together Aaron......

All their guides are veterans and very friendly too.

Martin here is my new favorite guide.

We can't exagerate this trip.......it is unbelievable.

We saw thousands of Tarpon up on shallow clear flats over a 30 mile coast line where Tarpon Cay Lodge has it all to themselves.

I think June/July August is the time to go but you might check with Keith Kaneko of Angling On the Fly travel service.

We usually have several group trips out of Kiene's there every summer but you can go by yourself or with a friend or two.
