So with all these issues they were trying to blame anglers, stripers and any other thing they could but themselves for what is happening to salmon in CA.

Maybe.... Remember, these are recommendations for change. Some of which could result in changing the practice of trucking fish around the Delta for release in favor of release at the hatcheries; a concern arising from fish not being imprinted for return to their spawning waters. Sounds good until you realize that it could lead to attempts to remove predators (spell that Stripers, Black Bass, etc.) from the delta.

In the article printed in the SacBee, one of the statements made was that we have to decide whether we want a natural fishery or not (I'm paraphrasing here).

That translates into whether we want to return to the distant past or not. Seems to me that it's far too late for that. The gene pool for California fish has been so altered, it's not probable that we could restore it to past levels. Also, does anyone truly believe that the habitat (Delta/rivers/streams) will change for the better???

Remember, the current governor supports the BDCP and wants to weaken CEQA regulations. :-s In addition, this report was authored by many of the same people who contributed to our current situation. IMO, We're going to be lucky to keep what we already have.... :\\
