You gotta love the ability to easily improve your photos by simply adding on a filter :)

Is my memory correct that a polarizer filter also darkens the blue sky and contrast with clouds? Also can you get them to fit the smaller P & S lenses?

I have not found a p & s that has a threaded ring to add a filter. I had to move up to a physically larger camera to use my filters. It's a. Panasonic. Not as large as a Digital SLR, but still big enough to make it tough to bring when I'm wading rivers. A large zip lock bag is what I keep it in. Not saying they don't exist, just have not seen one yet in a p & s smaller camera. The polorized filter will make a huge difference in your water shots. I also carry a U.V. or Skylight on the overcast days when I don't need the polorizer. You can buy a three filter kit pretty cheap on E-bay. Just make sure you know the size in mm's of the threaded ring on your lens, they vary with camera's & model. IMHO, a small investment to better quality pics.

Re: Circular polarizer on a P&S

The lenses in the RealD 3D glasses are circular polarizers. I've wanted to put some doublestick tape on one popped out of the frame and slap it on the front of my P&S to see how well it'd work.

Someone go test my idea!

All all P&S camera do not have any threads to fit a filter. However so "big zoom" cameras have the possibility to buy filter adapters separately.

A while back, before I bought my SLR I glued a "step up ring" to the fron of my waterproof camera so that I could use a filter and a wide angle lens:

You can do what I did to your camera ONLY if the lens does not stick out from the body, it has to remain inside, like every waterproof camera out there.

Cmccouluch: Yes, a circular polarizer helps to "blue" and add contrast between clouds and the sky as well.

Last week I got a point and shoot at costco. Nikon AW100. It has an adapter that slips over the front lens to use 40.5mm filters( have not tried it yet). The camera is waterproof to 33' ,does 1080P video and fits nicely in my pocket.
