This rod has been sold - thanks.

A lovely example of Walton Powell's fine cane trout rods. It is a 2/2 8'3" 5wt rod. It is in original as new condition and comes in original tube (which has seen a few miles) and sock. This lovely blonde cane rod weighs in at 4.65 oz. This rod tube features a unique error. In the late 70's or early 80's Walt had a batch of his rod labels printed up with the word "Distinction" mis-spelled as "Distiction"...missing the first 'n'. This error was brought to Walt's attention and he responded that he was "...a rod maker, not a damn secretary." and continued to use these labels. I've seen a few over the years. This tube has one. Very cool and a very nice rod.

That is a good value......good investment.

You can't buy a good brand name small line size split cane rod for that much.

That is a nice size............with two tips too.

Any interest in this one? From condition, action, and collectibility standpoints this is a very nice rod...

Thanks Robert. I sold it this morning. It was hard to let it go - it was a really lively and crisp action for cane - just outstanding. But I bought two Walton Powell cane rods from an east coast dealer and made myself a promise that I'd keep one and sell the other. The one I kept is a 7'9" 4wt that had slightly nicer cosmetics and is one of the nicest casting rods I've ever owned.

Shoot, too bad you didn't leave the post up so the rest of us could drool over it. I bet it was sweet.

I restored the original ad so folks can see it if they want.

Too cool, Rich. While I don't really have the means to pick any of them up, I love seeing all of the Powell rods you post. A great part of our region's angling history.

Hi Richard - Welcome to the site. Unfortunately I sold this rod several months ago. Send me a PM and we'll talk if you'd like.
