2011 was a record high water year and we did not head out until late July. My job recently transferred to New Mexico but my house and family remained in CA. It was hard being away and I still have not come up with a permanent solution to get back home. I drove from NM and met the boys in Utah. We camped at Jordanelle reservoir and fished the Provo River near Heber. We tried to fish mornings and evenings as it was way too hot during the day. The fishing with green Drakes was good and we did see a real hatch for about 45 mins one day. The thing that lacked was the real big fish we have seen in the past and I think it was related to the high water and late season. 2012 we left early in the season in the beginning of June. This was the fist time in a long while that it was just the 2 of us like the good ole days. I even left the cigars at home. Joey had decided we were going to catch our first Tiger Trout so we stayed about 9000 ft the whole time. We tried some new places and did not hit the Provo at all. I was mentally prepared for high water but forgot about the cold camping in a tent with many nights below freezing. He’s a few photo’s of the Utah leg of the trip. I’ve been getting a little lazy at the camera as it cuts into my fishing time.

Utah has some great fishing and very fisherman friendly access. We found some new places that are not secret but I chose not to mention the names as the access is easy and fishing is outstanding.
It’s a great place with easy access for kids or old farts like me. PM me if you would like more info. Joey did get his first Tiger trout but he muffed the picture.
