Check out the Sage Vantage 3wt 7 foot. That's a fantastic rod for the money. I just got back from the Bob and fished the vantage 3wt in 7 foot and 8.5 foot. For bigger water you want the 8.5 foot but that's not as pleasant a rod as the 7 foot. The 7 foot gives you a lot of feedback, tells you when the backcast is loaded, flicks it forward very pleasantly.

The 8.5 does well, it's a nice enough rod, but just "nice". The 7 foot is fantastic in my opinion.

I'd love someone to tell me there is an 8 foot rod out there that is as fast and pleasant as that 7 foot in 3wt. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I suspecting I'm pissing up a rope with that hope, it's hard to make a fast rod in 3wt that long. But tell me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the tip. The 7' model sounds sweet. What I'm really looking for now is a more medium to medium fast longer rod for fishing small flies on light tippets on some of my local tailwaters, something like a Sage 389 SLT for example.

Thanks again
