My father in-law just gave me this rod and I cant seem to find any info regarding its time period or anything else with regards to its printed markings. I have checked Eagle Claws web sight and no info there either. Any thoughts?

Eagle Claw 7wt. Wright & Mc Gill "Dr. Luke" - 8 1/2 ft. No. 4A- 8 1/2
I have yet to cast it. Maybe tonight with a 6 or 8wt line.

Thanks for any info that can be had.

Over the course of my fishing life, I've owned a couple of spinning and fly rods. They've all been made of the trademark yellow glass and are, uniformly, slow action. Of course, the grips/hardware aren't premium but serviceable. Depending on your needs/wants, they're a very good, durable rod.

IME, casting a line rated lighter than the rod is rated can be frustrating but is doable if you can carry a bunch of line in the air (false casting). A slow action rod requires some weight beyond the tip-top to load the rod.

I am currently using one of their rods that casts a 6 weight line quite nicely for Bass/Bluegill in ponds. Very happy with this rod.

Enjoy.... :D
