Strange little weather system has cooled things a bit.
The higher temps have made fishing during the day problematic.
Smaller fish will move during the day but bigger guys tend to be shy.
Fishing is good mostly early and late.
Frothy water is best, riffles, and pocket water hold more oxygen for them.
Short line nymphing is coming into vogue now because of that.
Dry fly in the evenings from around 7:00 until after dark.
Yellow sallies, and some Caddis and largish PMDs 12.
Golden stones about too.
Hoppers in the afternoon.
Some Cray molting due to warmer water.
Saw an Oct. Caddis in his house pupating yesterday.
Seems pretty early to me for that.......
A few less fishers on the water since the 4th.
Still pays to walk.
Nice flows 300-4oo cfs, temp, low-mid sixties in town.
Wet wading after dark is still chilly, but the rest of the time is perfect.
Should be good for a few days, then heat up again.
Fish while the fishing's good.
Some fast grabs, bring your game.
