Many of the trout streams in California are fishing well.

Some are still a little high and cold but not too many.

Some were good in May and June and are getting a little low and clear already, but not too many.

Most are very good right now....

Some friends drove to the Truckee River from Sacramento yesterday to hit the evening hatch. In 1.5 hours you can be on the Truckee River from our shop in Sacramento.

You could drive up Hwy 50 to the South Fork of the American and the Silver Fork of the American Rivers on a weeknight after work for the dry fly fishing there.

On the weekends I would go to Dunsmuir and fish the Upper Sac and the McCloud Rivers.
Check with Bob @ the Ted Fay Fly Shop in Dunsmuir for top info on those rivers.

Terry Thomas and his friends are headed to their trailers near Burney, CA for the 4th of July to fish the famous Hex hatch on the lower Fall River.

Maybe head over to the coast and do some surf fishing?

Lots of things to do to get out of this valley heat.....

If you are new to any of this you might try to get out with a guide. It is how many of us have learned a lot about these fisheries.

If you need any advise on or help planning a trip around Nor Cal for trout just call us or come by.

Where are you headed next?
