Aloha, just got the new TFO 1/2 wt trout rod. Paired it up with a BVK 0 reel and it is the sweetest little thing. I am going to try it out on some trout in Montana in July. We fish some of the big rivers but love wet wading the small creeks for west slope cutts, little bows and browns and brookies and the real suprise are the little bull trout. These streams are all over grown and covered with bushes and overhangs. This little 5 foot rod will be just the ticket for those conditions. The rod is built on the finesse taper and the reel looks like a BVK, but is just a click and pawl. I had fun lawn casting it today. Can't wait till Luke and I are back in Big Sky country.

Tight quaters like this will be much easier with the 5 foot length.

Little dinks like this are going to seem like ulua!
I bet this would be a good set up for those High Seirra streams. I hope Bill has them in stock. Check this rod and reel out, Mems.

Hey Mems,

My favorite all time rod was an Orvis 1 wt, 6'6" paired with an Orvis CFO click & pawl.
Man, I beat the living crap out of that reel....has a few flat spots but keeps on a ticking!

So fun to fish streams like the NF Yuba in Downieville. I once had a nice rainbow rip
me 50 yds downstream on that thing- what an absolute BLAST.

Unfortunately my wife broke the tip off...sent it UPS to Orvis and got lost in transit.
So I picked up an Orvis superfine 7'9" 2 wt, but it's just not the same. Plus, I
loved the short 1 wt for brushy streams like you're going to encounter.

Looks like an awesome trip Don....can't wait to see THAT report!

Eric

Here is a picture of the reel. Jay, I put a 1wt orvis superfine on it and it will cast 60 feet, but is very accurate 5-30 feet. It is going to be fun on the small creeks. I have a 6'6" 3wt that was my small stream rod before, but we will be fighting over this one.

Very nice setup! I just put together a Redington Drift 2/3 click and pawl reel loaded with a WF 3 wt line on a St. Croix 7'6" 2 wt rod. used the rod briefly between wind gusts last week and it seems very accurate. should be fun on the small high sierra creeks and rivers.
