I recently experienced some problems with a Powell TiMax, 10 weight rod (cork grip deteriorated and locking ring on reel seat loosened up). Since it had been a very good rod, I e-mailed Powell and asked them what the cost of having this work done was. They responded that the cost would be $99.00. They, also, offered to replace the rod with a new Tiburon, 9 weight for the same price. (They no longer make any fly rod in 10 weight and the price for a new Tiburon is $349.00) I chose to take the new rod.
So, I returned to old rod, paid the $99.00 and just received the new Tiburon. Looks great. Haven't casted it yet. Powell Rod Company is easy to contact and responsive. I gotta give 'em an ATTABOY for great customer service and producing a good product. :D
