Finally, some clear thinking (as in realizing something is wrong) is going into development of the BDCP. Check out the article in the SacBee:

If they divert the water then there will be no flow to keep back the salt water intrution?

Maybe that is OK? but the Delta might become more of a salt water marsh?

More stripers and less LMB???

I don't know but just thinking....

Actually, whether diversion is a good or bad thing is a matter of which side of the issue we stand on. If you're a San Joaquin ag-bus, there will never be enough water diverted from the delta or any other source. If you're a delta grower, the end of your ag-bus is on the horizon. Salt water intrusion alone will cause that. Then add in the construction footprint required for this project and.... we (all of us) have to stop seeing the BDCP as a fishing issue. It amounts to a complete change in an ecosystem that has so many perils involved that it's hard to imagine any good coming from it for this area.

The latest estimate is a cost of about $30 billion. Does anyone really think that's what the final cost will be??? :confused:
