I have worked in a fishing tackle store in the same area very near the Lower American River for the past 47 years so I have lots of fond memeories of fishing the river after work.
50 years ago I would head down to the river with night crawlers and spinning lures with my home made Fenwick spinning rod I put together myself.
It was made on a 7 foot one piece fiberglass fly rod blank with a long cork hande and sliding rings.
I had a Shakespeare 2052 spinning reel with 6 pound grey Trilene mono.
I caught a lot of Half-pounder Steelhead on that rod...
