Wel I had hoped this was a Stillwater post but it really didn't work out that way. Started out reading a post from another forum that trollers were catching kokanee on the lake but being pestered by loads of trout. I figured out the location and it was a 2 mile paddle/kick but I was up for it.
Got to the lake and it was beautiful as always

The winds were higher than I expected but I wasn't worried. Got down to the water and the wind seemed like it was directed at me! It was swirling and blowing me sideways all over. I figured I would stay nearby and fish the coves, forget that 2 mile paddle I was worried I would never get back!
Started out near this little island

The ospreys liked it here so I figured maybe fish are around. Low and behold a trout 30 minutes in!

For the next hour or so nothing so strategy change...Is there bass near shore?
Yes! Smallies!

Caught a few then decided to take a break on the island and what the hexk throw a S***O out. Picked up my sandwich and threw a cast out. Concentrating on my lunch when a Bass tales my worm out of nowhere and almost takes my rod. Recovering I set the hookand a huge bass(I think as I only saw a giant mouth!) throws my worm back at me! I try a few more and nothing so I go back to fly fishing.
After a few more of these

I paddle my way back to shore pretty happy with what I did on such a blustery day.

I know and have fished that island.

Good job on the smallies.
