During some reading on farming groups, I stumbled on a blog that has an interesting proposal for a crop insurance program that has a lot of potential to reduce the need for direct cash payment crop subsidies. Check it out:

Altho, private crop insurance is nothing particularly new, this proposal appears to be much more extensive and has a good financial underpinning.... Hope it catches on. 8)
