Just finished Anders Halverson's book. Its a great read. It gives a good overall history of how, when, where, and why rainbow trout have been stocked around the world. Most of the information is about the U.S.. He also gerts into the stocking of other species of trout. Mike

Thanks Mike....

I know the British military stocked fish all over the world.

I read a book about the history of stocking fish in Argentina. They put in dozen of species of fish and some did well and other did not.

Read this as an e-book a year or so ago. Interesting to learn how the rainbow
became the favored introduced species as native trout and char became scarce in
eastern waters. Livingston Stone started it all with his work on the McCloud. Compare
this with the introduction of shad and stripers to the west coast.

They used to say
"The sun never sets on the British Empire'

That empire planted trout in almost all of those colonies and even places they just made expeditions to. Sometimes the plants took, sometimes they didn't.

Some places you might not expect to catch trout, but can;

Kenya

South Africa

Tasmania and Australia

Bhutan

Nepal and Tibet

Korea and Japan

Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and other stans

Colombia

Peru

Mexico

and the list keeps going on and on....

I really wish they hadnt planted, but you cant really undo what was done.
