My first trip to the ladder line up. Word is that its very slow. I was blessed with two beautiful trout stripping. Water temp is still in the lower 50's.

Nice fish!! I like the photo of the road. :D

Great looking "ladder". That thing needs some modification, tho. How about adding a fish finder, heated seat and coffee warmer. Maybe one of those underwater cameras that could be lowered with a rope.... (Livin' in the lap of luxury (Pyramid wise that is....)

Great pics :)

One of my favorite Pyramid moments every trip is when you come over the hill and first see the lake after all the desert. Big and amazing. Where do you start?!

I just spent the last three days at the lake. Friday started off pretty good at the South Nets and we ended up catching about 20 fish. Around 11:00 am it really shut off and we went looking for a new spot. We got to Pelican in the late afternoon and caught a few more fish there as well. Then we got a report later that night that Sandhole went off on Friday evening. Saturday was a lot slower. Only a few fish were caught in the morning. The afternoon picked up a bit and we managed areound 10 or so. Sunday was the worst day by far. We fished at least 10 spots and never saw a fish and called it a day around 2:00 pm. Water is warming into the 50's and the fishing should have been way better than is was. Maybe the Full Moon has something to do with it. Most fish were caught on Maholo nymphs and midges.

We fished Pyramid April 9-12. It was generally slow, but I managed 17, all on red Copper Johns, Maholo nymphs, and Maholo midges, and all on a new steelhead-wt bamboo rod I built out recently (first two photos). My friend also caught fish stripping beetles, including a 26-incher with a chub stuck in its throat (bottom photo). We cleared that before releasing the fish, and he thanked us with a big tail slap. The slow fishing is being blamed partly on the water level that is still high from last-year's runoff. Some say that has diluted the lake, lowering the pH and favoring chub populations, so the Lahontans have plenty to eat without bothering with our flies.
