The hatchery truck at the North boat ramp today.

The attendance for the trout derby was down this year, as you can see the dock was still floating when the truck was dumping the trout.

The water temp. was 58 degrees today, and when the trout hit the water they freak out and tryed to swim up the boat ramp.

10 minutes after the hatchery truck left the trout disappeared into the lake, very few trout were caught over the weekend....so where did they go????

I caught 2 trout, 1 bass, and 2 tacos today.

Seems wierd,

In my aquarium I float and drip acclimate all my fish for an hour before I put them into my tank. With trout they drive up and dump! Or Helidrop them in. I guess trout are tougher than than clownfish. I guess it would just take to much time.

Good post Gene

You can see how clear the water is there in one of your pictures.

Next week should be good.....

Those big trout are being shy...but...they do pop up sometimes. A 4.5 pounder took first place for the derby, so those 8 pounders are still missing some where's in the depths of the lake.

Any of those people snag the planting truck? Looks like the hotspot was about where its tailpipe hit the water.

All of the information I have read requires electric motors on Rancho Seco. Pretty clear on that point. But what about a smaller size boat that has a gas motor that lifts out of the water, but can still move around with an electric trolling motor. Does anyone have any experience on this point they can provide? Sure appreciate it.

Gas motor is not allowed on the lake, you have to take it totally off the boat or you won't be allowed in. At least that is the last time I remember.

There was a small boat with the motor still on it while they fished. About every 15 minutes someone would pass by and say you can't have a motor in this lake. The owner stated that he did not have a gas tank, so they let him use his boat with the motor. I would still call first before taking your boat. And yes I even caught some fish the other day! Bill

As i was leaving.... that boat was setting next to the dock and a fish and game warden was telling them that he wouldn't write them up today but they need to get off the lake.
