This afternoon Jeff Putnam of Jeff Putnam's Fly Fishing Schools put on a Kids Fly Casting Clinic. This clinic was for a group of 7 to 10 year old kids at William Land Park Pond. The group of students was comprised of offspring of dads who are fly rod striper fisherman and regulars on my boat. As usual, Jeff did a fantastic job working with the students, some of which had little or no experience casting a fly rod, and a couple that had been at it a while.

He worked with them as a group at first, and then went from kid to kid on two rotations, working on individual skills from roll casting to entry level hauling. He ended the session with some reminders of what we had learned and some skills to work on as "homework"in the future. Except for a little wind that picked up this afternoon and some trees that got in the way of some of our casts, it was a fantastic experience for all the kids that participated.

Thanks to Lindsay-Matt-Joe-Miguel-Westley and Ryan for being so attentive; and a big thanks to Jeff for being a patient and enthusiastic teacher. We have six kids that will hopefully be "hooked" for a lifetime.
