I have not been keeping up with fly rod compositions and designs during the past 5 years or so.... I understand that some manufacturers went into newer materials while others advanced graphite to higher levels as well.

I do know that I really enjoyed casting a rod that was built in the late 90's by Redington. It was the Nano Ti (pre-quartz model). It was a very light rod and I surmise that the envelope was pushed a bit too far causing a lack of strength, thus breakage was an issue. Nevertheless, it was the best pure distance casting fly rod I've ever casted.

Fast forward 12 years..... Does anyone know if the NRX is perhaps similar to Nano Ti but with the resin composition necessary for strength? I don't know what or how the Redington Nti was built, etc. but I would hope that 12 years later there has been advancement in materials and resins allowing the rod to be built again, but stronger....

Anybody know?
