Yesterday went for half a day to a pay fishery that is in the middle of nowhere about 40 miles east of Klamath Falls. The lake is about 150 acres. My first time ever for pay fishing.

An wonderful blue bird day especially for March in eastern Oregon. The three of us must have hooked 30 fish and landed about 20 on both leeches and chironomids. All of mine were on chironomids. The typical fish was about 22" and my neighbor and I each took one of ten pounds. Mine pictured below. I did catch a pig of over 13 pounds but did not want to take it out of the water for a picture. Only other angler there was Denny Rickards. A very nice guy and willing to share information.

A ton of wildlife on the trip as we saw wild turkeys, swans, bald eagles, golden eagles, deer, pronghorn antelope, a coyote and a herd of about 20 elk.

Roger, are these rainbows of the Eagle Lake strain? Which act more like steelhead than a trout especially when hooked? We've discussed going to this lake but have not done so yet. Everything I hear is good. Would like to hear from you and your list of pros and cons.
Great Posts, I enjoy all your endevers and photo's. Keep them comming.

These are Kamloop strain tripods. They were very well conditioned fish. Overall I would rate this place excellent. There are 4 or 5 different videos on U Tube about the place. The one about 18 minutes probably is the best as it covers the lodging as well as the fishing. Lots of wildlife around and a pretty Eastern Oregon setting. This place is in the middle of nowhere. Lake is open from Oct-Jun. I will return.
